CURRICULUM VITAE

RISHABH BALABOMMA

Who? Google returns zero results. LinkedIn says "500+ connections" which means he accepted every recruiter from 2018.

rishabh.balabomma@gmail.com · +91-8319843498 · boredfolio.com · Mumbai, India

Gmail in 2025. Bold. And "boredfolio" — he named his professional portfolio after a state of mind that says "I have nothing better to do." Confidence or cry for help?

Senior Product Manager with 7+ years shipping AI-driven products, data platforms, and regulated digital experiences to 10M+ users across fintech, insurance, and mobility. Built an AI recommendation engine serving 30,000+ distribution partners, a Customer Data Platform unifying identities across 5 business lines, a cross-border trading platform, and API-driven embedded distribution systems for enterprise partners including Ola, Flipkart, and IndusInd Bank. Deep experience in 0-to-1 product development, product strategy, user research, experimentation, roadmap prioritization, stakeholder management, cross-functional leadership, and navigating complex regulatory environments (RBI, SEBI, FEMA). Technical product manager — writes production code in Python, React/Next.js, TypeScript, and SQL. Manages a team of 5 product managers. MBA from IIM Kozhikode.

This paragraph has more buzzwords than a TechCrunch headline. "AI-driven" did a find-and-replace from "data-driven" in 2023. "Writes production code" — Claude writes it, he takes the commit. "Manages 5 PMs" — manages their feelings, mostly.

Experience

Motilal Oswal Financial Services

Aug 2022 — Present

Lead Product Manager, AI & Platform Initiatives | Team of 5 PMs

His real designation is "Vice President." In finance, VP is what they give you instead of money. His relatives think he runs the company. He runs Jira.
  • AI Recommendation Engine: Shipped AI-driven portfolio recommendation engine ingesting client holdings, transaction history, and market signals. Cut advisor preparation time by 40% and lifted product attach rates by 15%.
The "AI" was an if-else tree wearing a trench coat for 6 months. The advisors' previous workflow was 4 Excel sheets and prayer. He gave them a search bar. Standing ovation. The 40% is real though — turns out the bar was just that low.
  • Customer Data Platform: Built 0-to-1 CDP unifying 10M+ identities across 5 business lines. Drove 18% engagement lift and 12% conversion improvement.
Same uncle: "Rajesh K Sharma" in equities, "R. Kumar Sharma" in MF, "Raj Sharma" in insurance, "रजेश शर्मा" in lending. Four accounts. Same PAN. Eight months teaching a computer these are the same person. The 18% engagement lift? Users could finally find their own accounts.
  • Cross-Border Trading: Launched cross-border equities trading. 32% KYC-to-funded conversion. ₹120Cr+ GMV in first 6 months.
₹120Cr GMV = 200 NRI uncles buying Apple and Tesla on repeat. One uncle did ₹11Cr alone. He IS the product-market fit. They lost 68% of users to a FEMA compliance flow with more steps than the stages of grief. But hey, ₹120Cr sounds great on a slide.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Digitized RBI-compliant Account Aggregator consent journeys. Compressed turnaround from 3-4 days to same-day.
The previous system was a paper form couriered on a motorcycle. He replaced the motorcycle with an API. This is on his resume as "digital transformation." Technically correct — the best kind of correct.
  • Digital Acquisition: Migrated corporate web presence to Adobe Experience Manager. Doubled organic traffic and generated 50,000+ qualified leads/month.
This is a CMS migration. He is presenting a CMS migration as a career achievement. "Doubled organic traffic" — the old site had the SEO of a witness protection program. The bar was underground.
  • AI Tooling: Pioneered adoption of LLM-powered development tools across product org. Grew experiment cadence from 3 to 12 per quarter.
"Pioneered adoption" = opened ChatGPT in a meeting. A senior director said "yeh kya hai?" His boss showed the CEO. He is now "the AI guy." Entire brand built on one screen share in January 2023. 9 of 12 quarterly experiments were button color changes. But with hypothesis documents, so: science.

Freelance Consultant

Mar 2020 — Mar 2021

Product Strategy & Operations | 3 Clients

THE GAP. The one every interviewer circles with a red pen. "Freelance Consultant" is LinkedIn for "unemployed but articulate."
  • Delivered product strategy, go-to-market roadmaps, and competitive analysis for early-stage startups in fintech and e-commerce.
3 clients. Same playbook. Different cover pages. Worked 3-4 hours a week. Billed monthly. The other 60 hours? Dad's poultry farm in Chhattisgarh. Fed 10,000 chickens daily. Built cold storage. Learned "supply chain management" stops being a buzzword when 200 birds die in transit because the truck AC died at 43°C.
  • Managed end-to-end project delivery including user research, wireframing, and stakeholder alignment across remote teams.
The chickens never needed a daily standup. They were more agile than any team he's managed. Also more reliable than his WiFi in rural Chhattisgarh. Honestly the best year of his career and he can't put it on LinkedIn.

Riskcovry Insuretech

Mar 2021 — Jul 2022

Product-Led Growth Lead | Partners: Ola, Flipkart, IndusInd Bank

"Product-Led Growth" = no marketing budget. That's it. That's the strategy. He's name-dropping Ola and Flipkart to compensate for the fact that you've never heard of Riskcovry. His parents still can't explain what the company did. He worked there 16 months.
  • Embedded Distribution: Designed embedded insurance distribution platform for enterprise partners. Managed end-to-end partner lifecycle.
Every partner integration: 47 Zoom calls, 12 Slack channels (4 dead), one Google Sheet everyone blames, and an API spec that changed 6 times because the partner's "tech team" was one intern. "Managed end-to-end lifecycle" = got yelled at from both sides simultaneously.
  • ML Optimization: Integrated ML risk scoring. Improved cross-sell by 9%, drove 42% growth in GWP.
The "ML" was a vendor API they bought and plugged in. The 9% cross-sell improvement? A pre-ticked checkbox: "Also protect your phone? ₹99/month." Some people didn't untick it. That's the 9%. He's not even ashamed.
  • Onboarding: Improved partner onboarding completion by 30% through UX improvements and funnel optimization.
The form had 47 fields. One asked for "mother's maiden name." For an API integration. He deleted 14 fields. Moved "Company Name" from field 23 to field 1. Wrote a LinkedIn post about it. Got 200 likes. This is product management in 2022.

Rapido Bike Taxi

Jan 2019 — Mar 2020

Campaign Specialist, Growth

He wrote push notifications for a living. "50% OFF YOUR NEXT RIDE" in 14 variations. A/B tested "Hey" vs "Hi." Hey wins. Always. He tested it 6 times because the first 5 times weren't statistically significant enough for his manager. His mother told relatives he "worked in technology."
  • Increased rides per user by 22% with gamified loyalty and referral programs across 10 cities. Built RFM and behavioral cohort models using SQL for personalized campaign targeting.
"RFM and behavioral cohort models" = SELECT * FROM users WHERE last_ride > 30 days. That's the model. He called it "data science" for 2 years. Nobody checked. The 22% is real though. Turns out people like free stuff.

RedSeer Strategy Consultants

Feb 2018 — Sep 2018

Research Analyst

Professional Googler with a PowerPoint license. Lasted 7 months. Speed run. He was 21, understood nothing, but had a nice blazer and could say "TAM" with a straight face.
  • Co-authored industry reports on consumer internet. Designed go-to-market strategies for brands expanding into Tier-2+ markets.
The answer was always "expand to Tier 2 cities." Edtech? Tier 2. Grocery? Tier 2. SaaS? Believe it or not, Tier 2. Different client, same slide, ₹15L invoice. Nobody noticed. Or they did and just needed the slide for their board deck.

Education

IIM Kozhikode · MBA

2025 — 2027
Weekend MBA. Flies to Kerala once a month. Discusses Harvard case studies on Saturday 9 AM while checking Slack under the desk. Half the learning is from the classroom. Half is from realizing CXOs are also just winging it.

Bangalore University · BBA

2014 — 2017
Three years of testing the mathematical minimum attendance to not get debarred. 74% in sem 4. Cutoff was 75%. Survived on a medical certificate and mercy. The canteen dosa guy had better operations than the professor. He had zero inventory waste. The professor had a PhD.

Projects

  • Boredfolio: AI-native personal finance platform. React, Next.js, LLM APIs. Sole designer and developer.
Named it "Boredfolio" because he was bored. That's the origin story. 400 hours, ₹0 revenue, fewer users than his family WhatsApp group. But the Lighthouse score is 98 and you're reading this page, so maybe the marketing works.
  • Agentic WealthOps: Open-source agentic workflow patterns for Indian wealth management.
Beautiful README. Mermaid diagrams. 4-phase roadmap. The README-to-actual-code ratio is 8:1. GitHub stars: he can count them on one hand. But they're from strangers. That's product-market fit for documentation.
  • AI-for-PMs Workshop: Co-designed applied AI training for product managers.
Taught PMs to use ChatGPT. They called it "transformative." One asked if AI could replace engineers. He said "absolutely not" while Claude was writing his production code at 2 AM the night before. The workshop should really be called "ChatGPT for people who make decks."

Translation guide: "Prompt Engineering" = talks to a computer politely and it writes code for him (this is now a ₹40L/year skill). "0-to-1" = built things nobody asked for, then wrote memos explaining why they should have. "Cross-functional Leadership" = professional Slack beggar across 7 channels. "Agile/Scrum" = 45-minute standups that could've been a Slack message. But he ships. Give him that.

Every resume is a negotiation between honesty and employment.
